DC Veterans Memorial

Sunday, February 29: Hidden among some trees is the D.C. War Veterans Memorial, which is fairly close to the FDR Memorial, across Independence Avenue. The memorial was dedicated on November 11, 1931, and the base is inscribed with the names of DC residents who gave their lives in World War I.

On February 29, 2004, I took a walking tour of many of the monuments and buildings in Washington, DC, and Arlington, Virginia. The walk started at 10:30 a.m. and ended at about 3:30 p.m., covering several miles of urban territory and including visits to several national monuments.
