Ship Preservation

Stockholm; Wednesday, June 21, 2006: The Vasa was a warship that sank on its maiden voyage. After it was raised (mostly intact), it was preserved by impregnating the boards with polyethelyne glycol and replacing some of the missing wood. More than 4km of rope was added to replace what had long since deteriorated in the waterways of Stockholm.
