Rocky Beach
July 28, 2007; Apostle Islands National Lakeshore:
This was a long hike for me, clocking in at more than 10.6 GPS miles.
I did take a break at around noon to have a sandwich and drink some extra water,
and this was where I had lunch--a rocky beach between the sand beach the kayakers
like to use for their lunch breaks, and the sand beach that's located near the
campsite at the end of the trail. I really didn't run into any other people that
far out along the trail; most people were dressed for casual strolling and went only
a little further than "the crack" to see the sea caves. In the distance is Sand
Island.
