Jones Creek Trail Crossing
Theodore Roosevelt National Park South Unit; Tuesday, July 21, 2009:
My original plan was to hike a very large loop through the South Unit of the park,
but this creek was one of the things that ended up cutting my day short. Unlike most
of the creeks and streams that I'm used to, this one has a very muddy, and very
deep bottom. Thankfully I wasn't wearing my hiking shoes when I crossed—I was wearing
water shoes, because I knew I'd be dealing with a river crossing. My feet and pants got
pretty muddy in the process of going across this little creek, and in order to dry off I
hiked much of the trail wearing the water shoes instead of my normal hiking shoes.
