Backyard Gator

Bald Head Island, North Carolina; Thursday, April 29, 2010:  There are many houses on Bald Head Island, and in some ways it reminds me of an urban subdivision, with many large homes on small lots. But one thing that most subdivisions in the north don't have is a local alligator in the drainage pond behind the house. There are several gators on Bald Head Island, mostly living in these ponds and in the ponds at the island's golf course.
