Another Bear

Along the trail to the Third Scenic View overlook is another bear effigy mound. Also in the park are conical, linear, and compound mounds; in the South Unit, there are also bird-shaped mounds. The mound building stopped approximately 750 years ago, as American Indian culture shifted from a hunter-gatherer lifestyle to an agriculture-based way of life.
