Boiler
Tuesday, March 4, 2008: The Potomac Heritage Trail and I have a rather complex
relationship. I like hiking on the trail, but a few years ago that hiking led to me tripping and
somehow blowing a disc in my back in the process. This year, things are a lot better. So much
so that I decided to hike all the way from Roosevelt Island to the Chain Bridge which is a four-mile
stretch. Along the way was this boiler, a remnant of the blue stone quarry that used to operate
along the banks of the Potomac.
