Big Bay Lagoon

September 12, 2007; Big Bay State Park, Madeline Island, Wisconsin: At Big Bay Town Park, there's a staircase that leads to the ridge above Big Bay Lagoon and to Big Bay Road. (Okay, so maybe the names of various natural features and roads aren't too original in this part of Madeline Island.) From this point, I headed to the road, and hiked southwest until reaching the indoor group camp, and then followed the Lagoon Ridge Trail back into the main area of the state park and finally took the Woods Trail back to my car. At close to nine miles of hiking, it was a long day on the trail--but definitely worthwhile.
