Sand Island Light

September 13, 2007; Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Wisconsin: Though it could have been possible to make a landing at Sand Island, the captain was worried about getting off the island when it was time to go back to Bayfield. So, in the end, there was no Sand Island hike, though we did go past the lighthouse, shown here. The boat was rocking pretty fiercely when I took this picture, and there was some driving rain as the result of the squall that boasted 65-knot winds.
