Lightkeeper Clarence
Split Rock Lighthouse, May 18: At Split Rock Lighthouse, the Minnesota Historical
Society presents life at the lighthouse, circa 1925. Here Clarence, the lightkeeper,
cranks a handle that raises the counterweights to keep the light turning for another two hours.
At the site, you can roam freely and ask characters, including Clarence and his wife, questions
about life at a remote lighthouse at about the time the "new international highway," now
Minnesota 61, was put in place.
