Caribou River Falls

Near Little Marais, May 18: Many of the rest areas along Minnesota Highway 61 have hiking trails that lead to waterfalls. At the Caribou River, the trail winds about a half-mile, crossing some rather hazardous terrain and some rather loose boards that weren't fit for walking on. Finally, at the end of the trail (and beyond a "trail closed" sign), there was access to the foot of Caribou Falls, shown here. What was fun about this particular location was that there was no one else around, and you could get close to the falls without getting wet.
