Trude Lake
Near Mercer, Wisconsin; July 8, 2013:
My original hiking plan was to follow the Deadhorse hunter's trail from one parking area along Popko Road to another trail access point, and then just walk back on the road. Well, it didn't quite work out that way. I took a quick detour to see Trude Lake, part of the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage, and when I continued on my hike I ran into a completely inundated trail. After hiking a bit through knee-deep water, I decided to go back the way I came, fighting a gauntlet of insects along the way.
