White River Valley

Badlands National Park: Here I am at the White River Valley overlook. Actually the White River is nowhere near where I'm standing--it's at the barely visible green strip at the left of the picture. It was an extremely hot and dry day, and with the bright sunlight overhead, a lot of the color was washed out of the landscape behind me.
