Maruoka Castle

Fukui; Tuesday, June 13, 2006: Maruoka Castle is the oldest original castle in Japan. Or, so the literature would have you believe. Apparently parts of it fell down several years ago, but it was reconstructed using those original materials. In any case, the castle itself is quite imposing, on a hill in suburban Fukui city.
