Very Large Array

Monday, September 26, 2005: About two hours west of Valley of Fires is the Very Large Array, the huge radiotelescope in the middle of the desert that was in the movie "Contact." While it wasn't hard to get there, it was actually hard to negotiate the road construction on U.S. 60--they were pouring new asphalt at exactly the time I wanted to turn onto the road that leads to the array.
