Memorial

As Eric and I sought cover under the Peace Museum in Hiroshima, this lone woman, under her umbrella, approached the memorial in Peace Memorial Park and the eternal flame beyond. In this photo you can see the bomb dome in the far background, in line with the memorial and the eternal flame. You can also see some of the modern buildings in Hiroshima that have filled the void since the end of the war.

factoid

When I visited Japan in 1998, I exchanged $2,000 for ¥286,500. That rate of 143.25 yen per dollar was one of the higest ever.
