Otorii Gate

A hot and humid evening led up to a beautiful sunset at Miyajima. Shown here is the large Otorii Gate, which stands in the water in front of the Itsukushima Shrine. There is much more to do on Miyajima, including a sky car, several parks, and plenty of tourist shops. Strangely, though, most of the shops closed by 6:00, giving the island an almost deserted, restful feel.
