Bomb Dome

The morning of August 18 was a cloudy, somewhat misty morning in Hiroshima. Shown here is the A-Bomb Dome, which is very close to ground zero of the atomic blast during World War II. The former exposition center's dome was almost all that remained after the bomb fell, and now stands as a solemn reminder of the powerful destruction of nuclear weapons.

factoid

When I visited Japan in 1998, I exchanged $2,000 for ¥286,500. That rate of 143.25 yen per dollar was one of the higest ever.
