A Muddy End
Theodore Roosevelt National Park South Unit; Tuesday, July 21, 2009:
Unfortunately for me, this was the end of the trail. The mud on the bottom of
Knutson Creek (where it intersects the Maah Daah Hey trail) was too deep for me;
it went well past my calf when I got in, and it was kind of hard to back out of
the muck. Being a solo hiker, getting stuck in the mud wasn't something I wanted to
do, so I turned around and headed back. Despite the setback, it was a great day to
be out hiking, with dry air and temperatures in the upper 70s.
