Dog Day Afternoon

Devil's Tower National Monument; Wednesday, July 22, 2009:  Prairie Dogs. Since I live in a condo development called Prairie Hills, you'd think we would have prairie dogs...but no such luck. Instead we have the regular kind of fido. Anyway, part of my hike took me on the Valley View Trail and the South Side Trail, which brought me through Devil's Tower's “Dog Town” area. This particular prairie dog was maybe not as smart as his bretheren, since he didn't disappear into his hole until I got to within ten feet. (Most other prairie dogs freaked out if I got within 50 feet or so. Except for this one, who is probably used to people getting out of their cars and harrassing him.)
