Corn Palace

Mitchell, South Dakota; Friday, July 24, 2009:  Advertised extensively in billboards across South Dakota, the Corn Palace in Mitchell is probably one of them most unique builidngs around. I stopped by when I was staying overnight in Mitchell, and there was a small market inside and lots of people coming and going.

The Mitchell Corn Palace was originally called the Corn Belt Exhibition and was built in 1892. The current building was constructed in 1921 and the exterior is rebuilt each year.
